My father suffered a stroke and was admitted to the Neuro ICU 5 unit and Elmer was the nurse assigned to his care. During the first 24 hours, it was extremelyimportant to monitor my father's condition and progress. Elmer looked after my father with the utmost care and compassion, he ensured that our family was comfortable and informed of his progress through the day and evening. He provided an education packet, carefully going over it to educate our family of his stroke and what to expect. Elmer showed compassion and shared his professional experience observing patients to assure our family of stroke expectations, of which we were grateful for.
"A nurse is one who cares and shows compassion for the well being of a patient for recovery", Elmer certainly embodied this statement.
