What can I say about Amber? She was the epitome of everything I would want in a nurse! Her excellent and thorough nursing skills, empathy, concern, and compassion as she continued to care for us both, were incredible! For example, for 2 days, my husband's blood sugar continued to go up to 575, even with insulin being increased. I had asked (as a pharmacist and diabetes specialist) to please let me order for him off the protocol, so to get more protein, fewer carbs. The order was put in by the doctor repeatedly, but still had issues. For 2 days, the nurses and the doctor tried to get it right. When Amber came in, I told her my frustration, and she discovered what the issue was (not sure what was wrong) but she got it fixed. She always came quickly, very friendly, efficient when pump kept beeping and did not make us wait. She took care of us all, without complaint, without feeling as though she had to do "everyone else's job", all with an upbeat and cheerful attitude and smile. By the way, she got his bs down to 84 in 3 days! Yay!
She always asked before leaving if there was anything else we wanted or needed, even though we could hear her being pulled 25 ways at once. The entire shift, as she would say, "That's what I am here for." Any issues that came up, she was on it immediately! It was a fabulous experience, especially when my husband was so frustrated with his situation, but she tried to help me keep him calm, happy, and well cared for!
She was everything I would hope to find in a nurse, and has well-chosen her field of healthcare, as she truly has the extraordinary compassionate care that you always hope to find. Thank you, Amber, for your kindness, your caring, your fabulous and thorough nursing skills, but most importantly to us, your empathy and continued bright smile!
It was gloomy outside, but you brightened our inside!
