Tierney was my nephew's nurse during two stays in ICU on the 9th floor, South. He was in ICU, 9th floor South for 20 days until he passed away. Tierney is the epitome of what nursing is all about. She was so kind to my nephew, his mom and dad, and the rest of our family. Tierney has so much compassion for her patients and she was on the ball with his care. She was very efficient and no-nonsense when it came to giving his meds, shaving him, turning him, etc. When he was moved up to Palliative Care about a week before he died, Tierney came to see him on her days off and answered any questions any of us had. Tierney was very dedicated to his care and to our family. She would stay after her shift was over, she took the time to explain exactly what was going on every step of the way with his care, she would call on her days off to check on us and make sure the family was okay. After his passing, she attended his funeral in New Castle, Virginia. It made our family feel a sense of calmness during a tough time in our lives. We feel very blessed to have had such an outstanding nurse.
