My dear friend who is chief of crash fir rescue at the Buffalo International airport and flight medic with Mercy Flight stated that Mercy Hospital of Buffalo has a "superior" cardiac unit. My family went with my friend's recommendation. Everyone on the 7th floor was wonderful and Kelly was outstanding. She personifies all that a nurse should be. Kelly is courteous, professional, polite, engaging, efficient and caring. Her expertise is obvious. Most of all, her thoughtfulness and caring just shine through in all she does. Her patience and kindness in answering all of my family's questions made a stressful time much less so.
During the week, my mother swallowed wrong, choked, laryngospasm with stridor - scary for the family to see. When it didn't resolve immediately I went to get Kelly. She came immediately and my mother was finally able to catch her breath. Kelly stayed setting up my dad's dinner but was unobtrusively monitoring my mother. When she felt all was well she left to locate some hard candies for her. Again she personifies what a nurse should be. Her priority was and is patient care.
Kelly is a model for all nurses and anyone engaged in the care of others to emulate. Kelly may not remember us in the years to come, but we will never forget this most skilled and compassionate nurse.
