When our assigned RN was off the floor you stepped in to get us settled and start our admission. You were so kind and considerate not only to the patient but also to our family and to the CNA that came in to assist you. The teamwork you and she showed was precise and professional. While the CNA was busy with her duties, you showed us so much compassion. You sat 1-on-1 with the patient, you took the time to listen to all concerns and to address them the best you could. The patient thought her questions were stupid and didn't want to waste your time (stating she knew you had other patients to get to) but you sat down next to her bed and reassured her that she and her questions were important and you would do your best to answer them and that also the doctor would be coming in and would be able to answer most everything. Nikki, you never made us feel like we were a bother to you. The eye contact, the smile, the soft tone in your voice, and even the touch of your hand on the patient made her feel less anxious and less nervous. You truly set an example of how a good RN interacts with her patients.
