Duran was nominated by a colleague for the compassionate care she provides to our patients and their families.
"She is new to the nursing industry but she already has that passion to help others and cater to their needs," the colleague wrote in a nomination letter. "She stays with the patients, especially if the patient needs somebody just to hold their hands because of fear and anxiety of being in the hospital."
The colleague explained that Duran always makes sure the patient feels safe and comfortable and that she takes the time to thoroughly explain the plan of care to their loved ones. "When a patient was angry and anxious, her sweet and calm voice talked the patient out of the situation," the nominator said. "She can bring down the fire of anger by just merely listening to their concerns."
Her colleague says she works well with other staff members and is a team player. "Duran's qualities bring such a good image to the care given here at Saint Agnes."
