I was a patient at the hospital for an APR/permanent colostomy due to rectal cancer. As you can imagine, a colostomy is a permanent, life-changing event which can take a huge emotional toll on anyone. The moment I met Janelle, the fear and unknown of this new life ahead of me was immediately calmed. Janelle, the most knowledgeable and caring ostomy nurse anyone could hope for, walked me through everything I needed to know about ostomies. She educated me, instilled confidence in me and removed all the unknown, allowing me to embrace the new challenge ahead with confidence. Her patience and kindness were the entire contributing factors to my successful transition. She continues to be a tremendous resource for me and finds solutions for any of my challenges.
