Tina has always gone above and beyond helping any room that needs help; opening, cleaning, or assisting. However, the other day I had a patient that they had attempted surgery on over the weekend and had to cancel due to the patient not being stable during intubation. My case was scheduled at the same time as a pacemaker, which meant the code cart was in another room and was not easily accessible if I would need it for my patient.
Tina, remembering this patient and their health history from the weekend, made a wonderful suggestion. She suggested I call pharmacy and have another code cart sent up to the Operating Room that I could then have one in my room if for any reason it would be needed. Thankfully we never did need to use the code cart but were at ease knowing it was there.
Tina even stayed and helped open up everything for the case, helped position the patient comfortably, and made sure I was good before she left me for the case. She showed and continues to show exemplary service, compassionate care, advocacy, professionalism, and dedication to consistently going above and beyond the call of duty while at work in the OR.
