My son had a tonsillectomy one day and by the next night at 10:00 p.m., we were admitted to the Pediatric floor at Mission. My son was dehydrated and in pain. He is not your typical child. Because of his condition, he can be very difficult to manage. Everybody was wonderful with him, but Mickee was awesome! She didn't mind getting down on his level to work with him.
He is quite the ladies' man. When Mickee would come into the room, he would pat on the bed, and she would sit down on the bed with him. He would pull her over, give her a great big hug, and love on her. When she would try to get up, he would pull her back down to play with her hair. She never once complained when she came up looking like a hot mess! She sang and danced, and tried every way possible to get him to drink. She went above and beyond with him and us!
We think Mickee deserves the DAISY Award for going above and beyond her call of duty. That's what makes a special nurse - her compassion for her patients. She is wonderful at her job. Thanks again for caring for our stubborn child!

Mickee was an awesome nurse. My daughter enjoyed Mickee's sense of humor and her compassion for her needs. We, the parents, were very impressed with how well she related to our daughter's needs, and how she used her social skills to calm our daughter, when she was upset.
We feel Mickee highly deserves this award because there is proof that she truly cares about her patients, and goes above and beyond to fulfill their needs. Mickee, you are a very exceptional nurse. Stay that way - your patients deserve the kind of care you give.
