Olivia is a genuinely caring individual who always goes above and beyond. She does countless things to make her patients and families feel special not for any recognition; it's just her norm. Olivia has had multiple patients who have requested her to be their nurse when she works. She does this willingly and always finds a way to make that special connection. Olivia does an excellent job with our younger long term transplant patients as she always seems to elevate the mind, body and spirit of those in her care. She goes out of her way to do the special little extras that mean so much. Olivia is very deserving of the DAISY Award as she embodies the clinical skill and compassionate care that sets her above the rest.
These examples are from a current patient who is one of those who asks to have Olivia as her nurse; these words say it all:
"I first met Olivia when she came to help my nurse wash my long hair and she spent 20 minutes supporting my neck so my head would not tilt back. She is upbeat, warm, caring and genuine. I walk daily with cardiopulmonary rehab but stay within the corridor. One day while Olivia was on her break (she was not my nurse this day) came to follow us with the wheeling recliner so we could go off the unit for a change in scenery. I display all of my ecards by hanging them to decorate my room. Knowing that, Olivia sent me an ecard so I would have another one to hang up."
