Hannah is a very special nurse that stands out even in an abundance of extraordinary nurses. I knew she was special from the first day my daughter was admitted. Hannah was her nurse that day and when we came in she talked us through everything, calming our nerves and answering all of our questions patiently and with a smile. Hannah knew that we were ready to see our daughter (for the first time since she was just born) without any tubes or tape on her face. When we came in that day, Hannah had made us a card ("from our daughter") with her sweet little footprints, had a bow in her hair, and lullabies playing. That was the first time I saw my baby girl without all of the evidence of being in the NICU fixed to her face. It was such a sweet gesture that I will never forget.
Hannah's kindness does not stop there; even on days when Hannah had other assignments she would take the time to check on all of us. She has made this very difficult time a little easier with her compassion. I'm sure her positive energy follows her with every patient she cares for. I believe in giving honor where it is due, and Hannah Winters deserves it. She is truly extraordinary!
