My mom was admitted to the Oncology ward and later Hospice, after being diagnosed in the Emergency Room with Gastric Outlet Obstruction. Our family was informed by the Emergency Surgeon that our mom would not survive more than 2 to 3 days. However, she survived thirteen days before passing. We were devastated by her diagnosis.
Nurse Mallory was one of the exceptional nurses who cared for my mom, me and my family during such a difficult time. Mallory is a very skilled and knowledgeable nurse, as well as a bright light for her patients. My mom cherished Mallory as if she was one of her beloved granddaughters. She truly shared a special bond with Mallory. I as well was so comforted by Mallory in a way that was so special, especially in the last days of my mom's life.
When my family had left for the day, Mallory comforted me while I wept over my mom's bed. She did everything in her power to make me feel loved during a very sad ordeal. Mallory went out of her way to ensure that Mom was comfortable and received the finest care possible and she was so compassionate to me and my family. Not only did Mallory ensure Mom was cared for and as comfortable as possible Mallory offered a level of support and comfort to me that truly exceeded her role as a nurse.
On the last day of my mom's life, Mallory was assigned a different unit; however, she took the time during her lunch break to come to my mom's room to check on her, me and my family. Not long after Mallory left the room, my mom passed. Mallory, still on her lunch break, came back to our mom's room to comfort and support me and my family during our devastating loss. Mallory gave us such comfort and support and my family and I are so grateful that Mallory was there for us, and especially me, as we said goodbye to our beloved mom. Mallory is not only an exceptional nurse but an exceptional person. I can't say enough about Mallory and what an Angel she was to us all.
