Cindy Phillips always gives 100% when taking care of her patients, and I felt she really went above and beyond tonight. She had a veteran who was suffering from metastatic bone cancer, and was in an extreme amount of pain. He became more lethargic towards the end of our shift, and became very unsteady and could not get comfortable. Cindy sat on the end of his bed, held his hand, and stayed at his side while he was leaning on his bedside table because he was so uncomfortable. Cindy was so kind, considerate, and empathetic with this patient, it was like she knew everything he needed even though he could not express it. We anticipated he would be passing soon, so she never left his side until he was comfortable enough to lie back down in the bed.
