I am a nurse here at Munson and found myself unfortunately on an unplanned opposite side of the bedside as a patient. I was completely miserable, physically, mentally, emotionally.
I was a nurse's worst nightmare. But then this angel of a nurse, Theresa, came to me and comforted me in so many different ways. I felt like I was her only patient and all of my needs, no matter what they were, were met even before I knew I needed them. I would cry and she would be there to wipe my tears. I would shake uncontrollably and she would be there to calm me down. I was nauseated and I was met with cool washcloths and meds and even mouth care to make me feel better. I had such horrible pains and she would stay on top of my pain control so I wasn't suffering. I was emotional and completely embarrassed about what was happening to me and she made me feel like, even though my story is super complicated. She knew where I was coming from.
Theresa was so comforting and understanding I couldn't have asked for a better nurse to be by my side. I never had the pleasure of knowing Theresa as a co-worker at Munson, but I am ever so grateful as having her as my nurse. I was incredibly relieved and at ease when I saw her face again during an additional night in the hospital. I knew I was in good hands and that my every need would be met with a smile and encouragement that every little thing was going to be ok. I can't give enough thanks or appreciation to nurses like Theresa. She is an amazing nurse with a heart of gold.
Munson is lucky to have her and so was I. She makes me want to strive to be a better nurse myself.
