My husband was taken into ER with severe pain in stomach at approximately 5 pm in evening and Holly was his attending nurse. Many tests were run up to wee hours of the morning. We got lucky that the ER wasn't that busy and Holly constantly was with us. She made sure we understood what the doctor was explaining. Around 2 am we were told my husband had liver cancer. We were devastated. I was a mess!! She made sure I received a bite to eat and coffee. It was a very long night. As we waited for a specialist to come in and see us she kept insisting I needed to sleep/rest. What Holly did next took me off my feet! Back years ago rooms were two beds with a curtain between them. She opened the curtain and moved a bed next to my husband's bed and said, "Now you be with your husband he needs you and you need to be close to him." She was God sent to us that night. I think this was a grateful expression on Holly's part, I can never forget this.
Recently, when I saw her at the hospital, I gave her a hug and tell her she was our angel. Her response to me is "It's my job to be here for my patients and family!" All this happened 2010-2011 and every day I thank God we had Holly with us that night, and to this day that memory still brings tears to my eyes when I think of it or tell friends of our experience with Holly.
