Leeann is always a team player and is consistently positive and encouraging each time she comes to work. She is always going beyond her job description to take care of our patients and family members.
Leeann had a patient who needed to be discharged to home and had no way to get there at the end of shift and no way to receive his seizure medication. This patient was admitted with seizures due to being unable to get needed seizure medication outpatient. In order to discharge this patient safely home, Leeann went above and beyond by calling the Medical Plaza Pharmacy at the end of shift to ensure they could stay open, so she could walk over and grab the patient's medicine before they closed. Leeann also went to get this patient a bus pass home. She kept saying, "I just couldn't live with myself if he wasn't able to get the medicine he needs." Most nurses would just give a list of resources to a patient in need to initiating helping themselves.
I believe Leeann was able to do that, but she also saw to it that the patient was safely discharged home and she was able to give him the extra help he needed when he did not have any family members that could. This is only one instance that she goes above and beyond for her patients. We are lucky enough to be able to work with such a wonderful nurse.
