Mercedez is consistently a great nurse to her patients, their families, and her fellow nurses. The way she takes care of the patients always leaves me in awe, like how much she does for them that is not required. I have seen her give patients back massages, manicures, haircuts, face masks, etc. She realizes that these are people, not just patients, and they need more than just scheduled medications to feel better.
I have seen her write pages of notes for the oncoming nurse to keep the continuity of care and to make sure the patients' and family requests are heard. Mercedez has gone out of her way to learn more than her job description requires; she is able to use the ultrasound to place IVs for patients with hard to find veins, place PICC lines, and cover RNS on other units. She picks up extra shifts or switches shifts to help other nurses have the time off that they need, and she is always willing to teach other nurses on the floor.
Mercedez has one of the biggest hearts and she cares so much about her patients and her coworkers, and we love having her here in Tuba City!
