After suffering from heart problems, I returned to the hospital with chest pains. I was quickly admitted for the entire weekend. I was nervous, scared, and not feeling well. My nurse, Yasuko, came into the room and managed my treatment with the highest level of professionalism, skill, and compassion. She made me feel comfortable and relaxed.
On the morning of the nuclear stress test, she came in and explained everything so clearly. She answered all my questions and made me feel at ease and relaxed. She followed up on any last-minute concerns that I had before the test. In that moment, I went from being very tense to calm and relaxed. After returning from the test, she came in to see how everything went. She contacted the doctor to see when I could eat and shower.
She made sure that I was heard, understood, and validated. She took the time to genuinely address all my concerns and follow-up with the doctor and kept me informed the whole time. She showed a lot of compassion, patience, and was very empathetic to my needs and concerns. She was so concerned about how I was feeling that she continued to check on me throughout the day. I watched her give the same compassion to the other patients in the room. She showed true love for her patients and the nursing profession and she always had a smile. The care she provided was above and beyond. Yasuko was a great resource for me and all my questions. Her care was sincere and heartfelt.
Thank you Nurse Yasuko and the VA Long Beach Hospital.
