This nurse is a very conscientious, dedicated and devoted nurse. She is the epitome of demonstrating what good case management means. She always goes out of her way to see how she can create a better quality of life for her patients. She is very empathetic as she helps her patients walk their journey. She remembers the intricate details about her patients sharing these with the Interdisciplinary Group to improve her patient's hospice experience.
This past year Albina helped one of her patients from the Dominican Republic return to his home country for a two-week visit. When others may have thought that this might not be feasible this nurse rose to the challenge. Working with a doctor, she taught the patient and family a new pain management regime, one that was more doable for traveling. She guided them and gave them confidence that they could make this trip. He visited, said his goodbyes and returned two weeks later, to be readmitted to our hospice program. This nurse saw a patient's dream and made it a reality, covering every detail.
She is one of our nurse preceptors in West Orange guiding new nurses into their roles as case managers. Albina Ostaeva is a nurse leader at VNA Health Group and we want to take this time to acknowledge her and let her know how much we appreciate her!
