One of our own hospital staff members from another unit was admitted to the Emergency Room and Amanda was working in the ER that night. She recognized the patient was someone she knew and she jumped into action, she started doing what she does best, taking care of other people. The patient was in the ER overnight and Amanda stayed with the patient all night and into the afternoon of the next day, after working all day. She did not do this for the credit or to be told job well done. She did it because she truly cares about patients and she wants them to get better. During my 14 years working at CAMC, I have watched Amanda be an advocate for her patients (no matter what) and I have also watched her help out/mentor/support newly licensed nurses, etc. She never loses her cool and she is a resource for all staff members. She is an amazing nurse!
