A patient was coming to Genesis Healthcare System for a total knee replacement surgery. During Jamie's assessment of the surgical patient, the patient had complaints of visual changes (seeing rocket ships) that she conveyed to the physicians involved in the patient's care. The patient had a history of cerebrovascular accidents and 100% occlusion of their right carotid artery. The patient's elective surgery was canceled which potentially prevented serious morbidity if not mortality.
