I wanted to take this moment to brag on Kassie a bit. What you first have to know is that Kassie is maybe the most efficient nurse I've ever met. She has only gotten out late once since working here, her meds are always passed on time (if not early), and her patients constantly praise her for her efficient and thorough care.
Well, today I want to tell you about the one time Kassie left later. Her patient came in for a septic knee. Kassie was playing phone tag between MRI and the physician all day trying to get them to communicate about the barriers to his plan of care. The patient was so incredibly anxious about his MRI that he couldn't stay still, this kept getting his MRI delayed despite efforts to help keep him calm. The only thing that would keep the patient calm was Kassie's presence.
Kassie, after a busy 12-hour shift, accompanied the patient to his MRI. She stayed on the intercom constantly to let him know she was there, and he had nothing to worry about. I think this is so admirable as Kassie had already given report on her patients and was ready to leave on time as usual but put the needs of the patient before her own and sat through his imaging with him.
