I came to Meadows to be induced and Amanda Montford was my nurse. I will forever be grateful for the care that she provided to me and most importantly, my baby girl. I had a horrible delivery experience with my first child, which I explained to her that morning during her assessment. Throughout the day, she went above and beyond to keep me calm and comfortable. She was quick to call the anesthesiologist when I felt that my epidural had only taken effect on one side and relieved my pain before it was time to push. I could not have asked for a better labor or delivery. Seconds after I delivered and was holding my baby, Amanda noticed that she was discolored and was not crying. She whisked her away to clear the fluid from her lungs and brought her back to me in a few minutes. She stayed at my bedside to monitor her and again, quickly realized that there was a problem. In the scariest moments of my life, she was so kind and reassuring to me and my family. Our baby was taken to the NICU due to respiratory issues and Amanda reached out to check on us several times during her hospital stay.
I'm a nurse myself and I know how hectic life can be as a working mother; it meant the world to me that she thought enough of my family to continue to care for us and reach out even after we left the hospital. Amanda is a perfect example of what a labor and delivery nurse should be. She was so kind, compassionate, and most importantly quick to identify that there was a need for intervention with our baby's respiratory issues. My little family will always be so thankful for her!
