Where do I begin? Joan is my definition of what a nurse should be. Joan is a nurse who I aspire to be like. She is kind, compassionate, dedicated, hard-working, accountable, reliable, consistent, trustworthy and loyal. These are all traits I believe make her not only a great nurse but a great friend and coworker and a true DAISY Nurse. After working with her these past few years, she amazes me all the time. She comes to work not knowing how our night is going to go but embraces it and makes the most of it. She is a mentor to all of her staff members. She is such an amazing resource with all of her nursing experience and is willing to share and help when she can. While one of my family members was in the hospital, she was their nurse. Watching her from the family's perspective made me admire her even more. Because although I work with her a lot and I know how she is and how she does things, it was completely different from sitting in the patient's room as the family member. She didn't treat my family any different than she treats her other patients and that made me realize that I know that every single one of her patients she takes care of she treats as if it's one of her family members. I can do nothing but respect that and I want her to know how important she is and the impact she has made not only for me but for everyone she come into contact with. I am so honored and blessed to have Joan a part of my life. Thank you so much for all that you do. You really have set the bar high for the care of our patients and I thank you for that.
