While rounding on a patient on a separate floor, an Assistant Director learned of a patient's only request to watch the upcoming Texas Tech game on TV. After checking with IT, they learned it was not going to be possible to get on his TV. This team from another unit began working on contacting different people to try and get box seats thinking it would be cool for him to go to a game, but also not wanting him out in the heat.
With the help of this group, we learned about Cole, who before we knew it said he had a suite and wanted to give the patient tickets. Cole came to the floor and spoke to the patient and wife and let them know, which brought tears to their eyes.
On the day of the game, Cole went out of his way for two complete strangers. He coordinated with the other unit to pick up the patient and his wife at the hospital, introduced them to his friends and family, and then dropped them off after the game. Cole went above and beyond to make the patient happy. The patient's wife said, "The memories made that day are priceless. Cole is an amazing man."
Note: This is Cole's 2nd DAISY Award!
