We had a young woman who had been a model prior to developing a disfiguring form of aggressive cancer. This patient withdrew and tried to hide. Sabrina made it her mission to restore this patient's self-esteem. She assisted her in her dress, talked to her about the hospital, and treated her as a loved one.
Sabrina spent time in giving this patient a manicure. When I entered the room afterwards, the patient held up her hands, beamed a huge smile, and told me how much Sabrina meant to her. This type of concern is typical of Sabrina. Every holiday, she prepares treat bags for every patient on the unit to give each one a little joy.
