I want you to know that the Orthopedic Class and all the Pre-op education is wonderful. Dr. C and all the hospital staff are great, but the person who went above and beyond was a Registered Nurse, Lena Johnson. She was the most attentive and the most compassionate.
Lena listened to me and was awesome with managing my pain, which never totally goes away. She rounded often and came to my room immediately when I called for her. I'm slow, but Lena was patient. One day, I couldn't get to the bathroom fast enough and I had an accident. Lena just told me not to worry about it. She said, "I'll take care of it" and she did.
Lena treated me like a real human being, like I was a sister of hers. When I got home from the hospital, I sent Lena roses. That's how much she meant to me.
