Liz is a nurse that I look up to. She has taught me so much in the last few years that we have worked together. I would not be the nurse I am today without her guidance, patience, and drive.
As a charge nurse, she is respected by her peers. Liz is always the first person the unit goes to with questions. We know she will have the best answer. She is able to take on numerous roles without hesitation. As we know, nights aren't ever what we expect. Being the charge nurse and needing to be available to everyone throughout the shift can be a struggle but the patients are always taken care of in the absolute best way. She is always outside of our patient's rooms the second we call and need a hand.
I've witnessed Liz sit next to a patient and just listen to them as they cried about being scared of a surgery. I've witnessed Liz fight extremely hard for the needs of a patient. I've witnessed Liz work for what felt like hours in a code or a rapid response and days after transferring them to ICU, she would visit them to see how they were.
Liz is an extraordinary, compassionate, hard-working nurse who truly deserves to be recognized.
