We can't say enough about MaryLou Rafferty, RN who was always courteous, and respectful. While she was P's nurse, she took great care of him. All his concerns were addressed, questions were answered. His Medications were explained to him. MaryLou helped him in and out of bed to his chair whenever he called for her. MaryLou was a very caring, comforting and knowledgeable. I noticed that P's roommate received the same compassionate care. All the aides and nurses were very nice and helpful, but MaryLou is special - top notch. P was in good hands. MaryLou also came to visit him at the rehabilitation center. He was so happy to see her. We will always remember her for her care and cheerful personality.

A patient on the second floor was seriously ill, with metastatic cancer, uncontrolled pain and pancytopenia. This patient was a candidate for hospice/comfort care, but the situation was being avoided by some of the healthcare professionals involved. MaryLou spoke honestly and compassionately with the family and patient and was able to move the therapeutic goals to comfort care with physician support. The patient and family opted for hospice care and that patient was placed on this care the same day. The patient passed away comfortably which was the wish of both patient and family. MaryLou is a true advocate for her patients and deserves recognition for her continuous support of patients.

MaryLou is always on target with her nursing care. We shared a patient who was vomiting and very uncomfortable. MaryLou took charge of the situation and administered care to this patient, continuously checking with the patient to insure that she was comfortable.
