Natalie was walking through the lobby at Ferrell-Duncan Clinic when she noticed an elderly patient who had been in the lobby for quite some time. The patient was now slumped over and Natalie was concerned for their well-being. Natalie approached the patient. The patient had fallen asleep and was very confused. Natalie got the patient some juice and crackers and asked what were the circumstances that caused her to be in the lobby for such a long time. It turns out the patient had multiple appointments scheduled for the same day. She stated she had been up all night trying to sort out where to go and when and was exhausted. Natalie looked at the appointment cards and realized she had missed an appointment for an EKG at WHVC. Natalie called to see if they could still see her and they could not but South was able to schedule it. Natalie arranged for the patient to have the EKG at South.
Natalie did not think the patient was capable of driving herself to South and then home. Natalie and the FDC secretary found the caregiver's contact information and called them to discuss the patient's situation. The caregiver was not able to leave their work right away but could come shortly. The FDC secretary stepped in to help (as Natalie had patients scheduled) and took the patient to South so she could have her EKG. The patient's caregiver would then meet the patient there to get her home safely.
Natalie always goes above and beyond for patients. She exhibits great compassion and caring for all patients.
