Sarah Carter was the most amazing nurse we have ever met. She went above and beyond while caring for our daughter. She cared for her as if she were her own daughter. We felt comfortable and relieved when Sarah was assigned to her. As there were some nights or days that we would be unable to be bedside, just knowing Sarah was there, lifted such a weight from us.
Communication is key, and Sarah did more than that! We always knew what exactly was going on with our daughter. Not only that, but Sarah took the time to listen to our concerns or questions and always advocated for us to the doctors and team. This woman was a blessing from God. We owe so much to her! We wish we could take her home with us. Her spirit alone was a blessing to be around. She has so much heart, and you can just see the love and passion she has for her job.
We had quite a few nurses, so let me tell you there is a very big difference from coming to work and loving work! From the very first time that Sarah cared for our daughter, they were a great fit. Our daughter was doing terribly, fighting for every breath of her life. That was the first day that she started doing better. I am not sure what it was that Sarah did - by positioning her in the right way, by talking to her or by simply just being a blessing from God! All I know is that this young lady took her time and truly cared for our daughter in a way that no other nurse had. She is a superwoman, and we don't how we will ever repay her for being such a major factor in saving our daughter's life.
Sarah Carter is the perfect definition of how nurses should be. With all the daily stress of not knowing if our daughter would live or die, Sarah always took time to check on us as parents to see how we were doing. Just the small talk to even get our minds out of a place of doubt and into a world of hope. What a wonderful woman she is and we were so lucky to have her as our primary nurse. Even after our daughter was moved from the NICU, Sarah still went out of her way to come and check on her. What an honor it was to have her in our lives.
