Sarah was on her way to work in the UED when she came upon a motor vehicle accident on Highway 269 where there were multiple injuries. She got out of her vehicle and started assisting the local fire department with patient care as they waited for additional EMS units to arrive. It was during her triaging that she found an infant under the brake pedal who was in traumatic arrest. She immediately started CPR while EMS was arriving. She assisted EMS during the transport to Children's Hospital doing CPR all the way there. Sarah did not have to stop and render any care but went above and beyond by attempting to save the child. Unfortunately, the patient did expire at Children's. This display of caring above and beyond is how Sarah works every day within our department.
