Having a nurse that is proactive and reactive is very important to the patients they care for and the parents that advocate for their children. Our son had spent months trying to get the proper care he needed. Consequently, after receiving care from the Children's Hospital, my wife noticed that my son was addicted to the pain medication and tried desperately to convince the doctors of his condition.
Nurse Bowen notice my wife's dilemma and interceded on her behalf. She explained to the doctors how long my son had been in pain and how he and my wife had endured months with opioid pain management. The doctors were persuaded by nurse Bowen to address the issue, listen to my wife, and to involve the pain specialist team. By nurse Bowen's actions, my son's condition drastically changed for the better. She even came back to check on my son and wife, suggesting a special camp for children like my son.
