I cannot just limit this nomination to one experience. From the first day that Mary was my son's nurse she went above and beyond what we could have ever hoped for. Mary took the time to get to know not just my son but also our family. She learned his every cue, movement, and meaning. She could tell instantly when something wasn't quite right and did what was necessary to make the changes he needed. Every day she worked we felt at ease enough to step away from the hospital and actually breathe. Whenever there were terms we didn't understand or diagnoses that were confusing she took the time to explain in terms that we could understand. She was always a shoulder we could lean on and a never-ending source of knowledge. After nine months in the NICU, we have finally made it home and she stays in constant contact. She is always looking out for our micro miracle.
