Norma exhibits the kind of caring compassion to all of her patients that one would want for their own family member or loved one. She is a "nurses' nurse," who always puts the patients' needs first and is always willing to give a little more to ensure that the patient gets the care that they deserve. She delivers high-quality care with a smile and laughter but takes her responsibilities to her patients seriously. She is engaged in the community and has taken the initiative for the last few years to establish a gift registry program during the holidays for residents in a local ECF. This program has been a success and brings joy to the residents that it serves by matching their needs, or wants, to a nurse that can provide a small gift. That can really make an impact on someone's holiday.
Norma is also someone who is selfless with her time, as she often will volunteer to help a less experienced nurse with difficult patient care in order to provide that patient with the best possible care. She has been willing to pick up extra shifts when asked and even is willing to assist Hospice House by answering the phones when they were shorthanded. Norma is very dedicated to her patients and takes the time to assure that they understand that someone is advocating for them. Patients trust, respect, and love her as their nurse, and she is loved by all the work with her.
