I have witnessed excellent nursing care by Parabatie. Currently, the EDU has a total care patient that is not like the population on this unit. This patient has severe scoliosis which has caused her to be contracted and wheelchair bound when she came to the unit she multiple extensive wounds on her legs and feet. Parabatie has personally taken responsibility for these wounds by cleaning and dressing them every night with detail and care. She even offers her assistance when she is not assigned as her patient. Because of her detail orientation to these wounds, they have healed up very nicely.
This patient has learned to trust Parabatie. This patient needed an NG tube and many nurses tried convincing this patient to have it placed for tube feeding and she refused every time. Parabatie came in and was persistent with the patient and asked if she would allow her to place the NG tube and the patient agreed. Parabatie was able to place the NG tube and start the tube feed which this patient needed for life-saving measures.
Parabatie not only shows extensive compassion and caring to her patients but also her coworkers. She continuously helps everyone out and provides an infectiously positive outlook on the EDU unit. She helps keep the unit organized and provides a positive teamwork environment. Every time I'm floated to this unit, I feel supported and at ease when she is working.
Parabatie is a true DAISY Nurse.
