Carolyn has such a big heart! This was night 4 for her, and she was going to be going on a long road trip vacation when her shift ended, however, she had noticed that a family member had been there the past 4 nights. She didn't have a car, so she never got to go home, rest in her bed, shower or change clothes.
Carolyn took the time to talk to her and offered her a ride home as soon as she got off her shift. I could tell how relieved the family member was to finally go home and the patient even seemed at ease to see her sister go home and take care of herself. She lives out in Lamesa which is an hour drive from here and was not on the way for Carolyn, but she didn't mind at all. This wasn't the only act of kindness she displayed in just this one shift!
Before work, Carolyn bought her patient a nice hairbrush from the store and even went and got her some chips! Carolyn is always so helpful whenever I'm working, she will ask if any of the other nurses need help. She's a nurse that I one day aspire to be like, always calm, collected, caring and compassionate! Carolyn also went above and beyond for a family by letting them borrow her RV, without charge, for their stay, cooking them home-cooked meals and making sure they had everything they needed!
