Zach is the ICU supervisor on nights and is the critical care RN that responds to PCU during emergencies. Zach is always very willing to help and is also very kind to our staff. I have watched him comfort not only the patient and family but also the staff. He is extremely intelligent and is an excellent educator.
Zach is detail-oriented and even in an emergency takes the time to ensure the patient is cared for with compassion and dignity by covering them and providing privacy. One night a patient was declining, and Zach did everything he could to help but it was her time and a decision was made to let her go. Over the next few hours, she peacefully passed away with staff at her bedside. She had no family and Zach called to check on her several times and wanted to ensure we had someone with her in her final hour. This follow up showed me what an amazing nurse Zach is. He embodies the mission and values of SIH and we are all privileged to get to work with him.
