Caring is a lifelong and the greatest journey:
Nurse Sirilak said, "Providing the best care to the patient is like taking a journey to different places on a daily basis because each day, one can never imagine or predict what he/she will face. Yet, with all the constant changes in the hospital, something remains unchanged and utterly most important. They are the power of close observation and the constant gaining of professional experience. There may be days when nothing seems to go right or the path you have taken may be full of thorns instead of roses. One thing I know for certain is that every obstacle is there for me to learn, to develop, to grow in my profession to achieve success, which is to provide the best and optimal care to all my patients."
Everyone takes a journey of their own. Same goes for the patients with cancer regardless of their ages. When my patient is newly diagnosed with cancer, my first and immediate thought is how will I be able to assist them and help them through this crisis, especially the starting point, anxiety, and trepidation. Whether it will be for the treatment plan, decision making, side effects and loss, they constantly play in the back of every patient's minds. The C word or cancer is a disease with a bad reputation for killing the happiness of the many families. This is the barrier I have to break through to further develop myself and to provide the best care for each individual and unique patient. My goal is to ensure effective case management and its process of caring for the patients with cancer and their families require patience and fighting spirit for this endless journey. With all the journeys I have taken towards caring for all my patients, I am proud and delighted to be able to assist my patients with all my strength physically and mentally to help patients and families becoming as comfortable as possible with the smiles returning to their faces and great quality of life for the remaining days.
Nurse Sirilak's supervisor has once stated, "Nursing care process watches over the physical, mental and spiritual health of both patient and family members. Nurse Sirilak is an extraordinary role model for all the other nurses in the aspect of self-sacrifice and devotion for the well-being of the patients. A patient, who was on the verge of giving up on the doctor's advice and opt to believe in superstition, fell very ill. Things turned for better because Nurse Sirilak decided not to give up on the patient and his hope and talked with him even though it was not a working day for her. She ensured that her patient received the most optimal care possible. Nurse Sirilak is the image of the nurse I am truly proud of and hope that all nurses will follow."
