Joanne is an extraordinary nurse who is always finding ways to improve nursing care in the ICU. She is enthusiastic, compassionate and cares deeply for her patients. One patient care event stands out.
Joanne was caring for a patient who had a brain injury. His wife was at the bedside and told Joanne that they were celebrating their wedding anniversary that day. Joanne went, during her break, and bought cupcakes and brought them back so that they could celebrate their special day. This made both the patient and his wife so happy as they were able to focus on something positive.
