I have known Rabeena for several years. She not only completes her work on time but when it gets busier in the ED, she is willing to help out and stay longer to finish her documentation, having to then go home by private transport, at her own cost.
Because of her quiet manner, some patients and staff may think she is lacking confidence, but this is just her manner. Rabeena is caring, accepts accountability, and demonstrates responsibility to, and for her patients. When she carries on with her work you will observe how dedicated she is to her profession. She has a positive attitude, never complaining about the area she is assigned, even if she is repetitively rotated through the same area in a week. She will always accept any patient that is assigned to her and will assume responsibility for patients that other nurses have challenges with, be it behaviorally related or a patient in an unstable condition.
One day, when she was caring for a patient who was in for a change of tracheostomy tube, despite the urgency of the situation and possible complications, she was able to manage her patient well without complications. She prepared the area and her patient quickly and collaborated seamlessly with ENT and RT to complete the procedure with a positive outcome, in a calm manner.
I nominate Rabeena for her courageousness in facing difficult patients and situations, overcoming them all while maintaining humility, a high level of professionalism, and demonstrating collegiality and collaboration with the team, at all times.
