I was a patient admitted to the OBGYN unit during my pregnancy. My body started to feel weird from my 16th week of pregnancy. I wanted to do whatever I could to save my baby, and therefore, I insisted on being admitted when the doctors tried to convince me to give up.
I was impressed by the nurse Bi Lixia in the OBGYN unit. She welcomed me on my first day and decreased my anxiety by orienting me to the environment and answering my questions. She encouraged me to do exercises beneficial for pregnant women. She talked to me whenever she had a minute to reassure me about the false contractions I was having. She made me feel comfortable and safe.
One day, I saw blood coming from my body and was very nervous. I knew immediately that I could not save my baby. I sat by the bed, crying and trembling. Ms. Bi saw me and came over to give me a blanket. She sat with me, holding my hands firmly without saying a word. Magically, I felt the power flowing from her and started to ask questions about my condition. I could never forget how careful she was of the wording. Even with the comfort she provided, the news was devastating for me. I cried and cried, for God knows how long. Then I suddenly realized that Ms. Bi was still holding my hands and crying with me. I started to calm down. Ms. Bi shared stories with me and comforted me that it was OK to feel sad, but my loss was not the end of the world. She helped me lie down and advised me to have a good rest.
I could never forget how Ms. Bi made me feel at that night. She was there for me at the darkest moment of my life. She helped light new hope within me and now I have a beautiful little girl. I am much stronger than I used to be. I would like to say "Thank you" to Ms. Bi from the bottom of my heart!
