After being looked after by various nurses in various NHS trusts, nothing can compare to the care that I have received from UCLH for the two and a half months I have been going to Jakki for my diabetes. My confidence and knowledge have grown. Our appointments are very relaxed and I have always felt comfortable emailing her with questions and generally just to let her know how I'm getting on with positive feedback. In preparation for my first London Marathon, she was incredible. She was there when I emailed her the morning of my marathon with some sugar level problems. She responded quickly with good advice despite it being one of her off duty days. Not only is she supportive with my diabetes but also in my sports. Recently, I found out I was pregnant and the NHS trust at which I work didn't accept to provide me with antenatal care. As soon as I emailed Jakki without hesitation she offered to see me within a few days and again she has been incredibly supportive. Jakki is an inspiration to all nurses and has inspired me to study nursing to specialize in diabetes care. I hope once qualified I am just as astounding as she is. I really dread the day she retires. She is the best nurse ever!!
