Sylvia Richards works as a staff nurse on the Lishman Unit and has been nominated by a coworker who wrote of Sylvia:

‘There are many situations that I could specifically detail, however overall Sylvia’s dedication and approach to patient care has been consistently high for many years. The feedback that I get from clients is that they very much benefit from her caring and client centred approach. She demonstrates consistently high standards of practice, and demonstrates a great deal of empathy and support in all her interactions with her clients, even in the most difficult situations. In line with the Trust values clearly demonstrates that she puts the needs of clients at the centre of her practice. In terms of communicating, she demonstrates to me that she goes the extra mile in ensuring consistency of care, very often working past her shift times to ensure she is actually documenting her practice, and ensuring thorough communication with her colleagues. In respect of this, her approach demonstrates that she is driven from a sense of duty to her clients. It is this above all that leads me to nominate her. I believe that her core beliefs in the well being of her clients, and the consistency in her practice provides an excellent role model within our Trust and particularly for mental health nurses generally’.
