In March I gave birth at the LGI to my son at 34 weeks gestation. I was taken to the Cardiac ICU afterwards and was nursed by Rachel. She was amazing to me. I was an anxious mess, separated from my baby in the middle of a pandemic. Rachel went above and beyond for me that night, aside from my medical and personal care she helped me express breast milk, ran back and forth, to and from the NICU with my breast milk for my son. She took my phone and brought back videos and photos of him throughout the night, she gave me regular updates on him from his nurses and stayed past her shift to help me put the breast pump together she had retrieved and sterilized for me.
Aside from all this she also looked after other patients on the ward and even disappeared to do some training at one point. The following night before her shift she came to see me and ask how my son was doing on the ward I had been transferred too.
Rachel made what was a really, really hard time for me a million times easier and has no idea how fabulous she is. I will never be able to thank her enough!
