At only fifty-two and having lived a very healthy and active life I unexpectedly suffered a heart attack in my home. This was an extremely traumatic experience for both myself and my family.
The ambulance service was called and immediately responded, taking me to the Queens Medical Centre where I remained until being transferred to the City Hospital, Papplewick Ward the following day.
Within half an hour of arriving on the ward, I suffered another heart attack and was attended to by Julius Manzano who remained calm, caring and very professional during this pressured situation until the attack began to subside. He was constantly reassuring me and is clearly a very caring individual and an absolute credit to the service.
I was then immediately transferred to the Acute Cardiac Unit where I was greeted by Alex Hoyle who explained the procedures in full detail.
It was clear to me that Alex has an excellent specialist knowledge and delivers this in a way suitable to the needs of the client. He was able to answer all my questions and offer complete reassurance. He later informed me that he also delivers training to other professionals and it is clear he is an absolute asset to the profession.
Alex and his team then continued the excellent care until my operation.
As I lay here in the hospital recovering from my procedure I can only reflect and speak very highly of the service and of all staff who have cared for me throughout.
