Phil has been employed at Sherwood Forest Hospitals for over 22 years in many roles from Ward leader to Head of Nursing and more recently as Deputy Chief Nurse. During this time he has earned the respect of his multi-professional peers as a strong and influential leader. He is a true role model always ensuring that the care given to each and every patient is of the standard that we would want for a loved one.
During the COVID-19 pandemic period, Phil has led the clinical response operationally demonstrating calmness, compassion, and courage. This approach has resulted in rapid innovation to our services led by front line staff and influenced by our patients. His professional approach has enabled us to care for our most vulnerable patients whilst protecting and supporting our teams.
During this time Phil has not only been an inspiring mentor to many but also an incredible support to both patients and staff members. This Leadership style is entrenched and part of his being. This is Phil, and he offers this level of support to everyone. Phil is kind and caring to our patients, giving them confidence in the care they receive. Patients and their experience are always in his every waking thought. Phil is an enthusiastic, passionate, and outstanding Nurse. His very core is engrained with the NHS values and behaviours. But it is also Phil's honesty, integrity, and ability to nurture and empower the workforce which shows why he is an exemplary role model and an Extraordinary Nurse.
