Ms. Jordana Ann Lao has been working in the Cardiac Cath Lab Department for seven years. She is known to be a very supportive, cooperative, and resourceful staff nurse. As a senior staff nurse, she has matured significantly over the years. She is very committed to the department.
She is highly commended by her colleagues for the Daisy Award as evident by the following values she possesses:
Patient Focus: She initiated the project for requisition of leg straps and arm boards for patients undergoing Cathlab procedures which give comfort and safety to the patient who's having long procedure in the lab. She is observed to be very proactive in creating innovations for better patient care and clinical outcomes in the department.
Integrity: She is currently assuming several responsibilities: covers the Head nurse when the latter is on leave; the environmental group team leader. She's taking the responsibility to lead the group to make sure that all the labs are well organized when it comes to cathlab cleanliness with the help of cathlab environmental committee. She is always ready to lend a hand and sometimes she will even put her own welfare as her last concern.
Quality: She is the quality representative of Cathlab UBC for almost two years. She stays in her position for the projects she has done, like completion of consent survey, door to xylocaine time for the code heart (emergency MI/STEMI) patient and others. She is also involved in the orientation of the new staff and is very much committed in mentoring the staff when they are not familiar with the procedure. She showed exemplary clinical judgment when assessing and caring for her patients.
Compassion: She is known to be a very thoughtful, compassionate and nice to work with by her colleagues.
Teamwork: As one of the senior nurse in the department, she has always been assigned as team leader of the week and is observed to be very efficient with it. She is also leading the Environmental Group of Cathlab in collaboration with the other healthcare providers working in the department (e.g. Physicians, Cardiovascular Technologists, Radiographers, and Patient Care Assistants)
Jordana Ann really deserved to be recognized with all her exemplary contribution to the department and her excellent nursing care to her patients.
