Michelle has worked in ORL clinic for close to 8 years, in this time she took on the role of charge nurse, preceptor, Oracle requester/approver, and UBC member. Her strong nursing foundation along with a high work commitment reflects a positive image of nursing, she gains the respect and trust of her immediate management, peers, multidisciplinary team, patients and their families. Michelle consistently demonstrates a patient-centric attitude, focusing on meeting patient needs, understanding their perspectives and respecting their values.
A change in patient condition was noted by Michelle who informed the doctor immediately, Michelle monitored the patient closely who required high-level nursing care. A decision was made to admit the patient who started to vomit fresh blood. The patient rapidly deteriorated, Michelle activated the code and remained with the patient and supported with the resuscitation. Her efforts and contribution to the code were appreciated by patient family members, doctors, and direct management.
Michelle remains up to date with her practice and easily manages to problem solve and handle multiple tasks with ease. She helps the team to function at a high-level, meeting the patient needs and maintaining quality care when assisting with procedures. She is a team player whose expertise is apparent when working alongside the multidisciplinary team providing patient-centric care.
She possesses great leadership abilities, she frequently coordinates with CSSD regarding equipment management and clinic stock level to ensure supplies meet patient needs. Michelle supported the clinic during the CNC's absence, she collaborated closely with Quality Management and received positive feedback on her performance. She is a great resource who is willing to share her knowledge with the rest of the team. She continuously collaborates with the clinical instructor to tailor the services to meet the staff educational needs.
Michelle embodies the caring attitude, compassion, and knowledge representing the best of nursing. She is a gem and truly deserves recognition for her work and commitment to the hospital and patients.
