It is my greatest pleasure to nominate Constancia 'Connie' Noto for the DAISY Award, for her outstanding dedication to Adult Cardiology Clinic and endless efforts to provide quality care for patients in KFSH.
Connie is an outstanding team leader, friend, preceptor who always brings a high degree of energy, flexibility, commitment and professional conduct. She has a very calm demeanor and treats patients with respect and empathy. So many times I had observed that she was going extra miles helping patients. Patients will come back to the unit thanking her and described how good and compassionate she is.
She has good ability to solve customer issues within policies, protocols, and procedure of KFSHRC; she has effective communications with patients to properly address the patients' requests i.e. medical reports, medications, health issues in a timely manner.
In addition to work, Connie is an active UBC member. She was a UBC co-chair: drove some changes in our unit. Now she is our Retention officer, so ever caring. She arranges time to celebrate all our birthdays. Always there to cheer the team for any small accomplishments we have with small gifts as a token of appreciation. Sometimes the money even comes out from her pocket.
Adult Cardiology Clinic is usually a very active and busy area. We have enough nurses but at times Arabic speakers SNI will have to be taken out from the clinic areas to be translators for the non-Arabic physicians.
In view of the high patient loads and inadequate numbers of SN1, Connie will usually triple her energy to cover the areas that needed to be covered, so that others can go for short breaks. As a team leader, who has numerous of responsibilities, with a highly stressful environment; Connie is always available to make sure the continuity of care in Adult Cardiology Clinic is not disrupted. This shows what an efficient team player and a good leader she is.
She is quality focused who is working collaboratively with her colleagues and all required department to foster a safe and quality care for patients. We demonstrated this in in our quality data and patient satisfaction data.
Numerous times I witnessed her abilities to manage and lead in emergency situations. She has a vast experience in cardiac nursing and able to handle sick cardiac patients in outpatient settings. I remember how she helped to manage a patient who presented with symptoms of SVT. She applied critical thinking in that needed situation, where the outcome was a safe transfer to EMS for that patient.
I was thinking… One of our best nurses deserves "The DAISY Award".
